Chadwick Aaron Boseman Caroline and Leroy Boseman, both African-Americans, were born and raised in South Carolina. His mother was a nurse and his father worked in a textile factory, as well as running an upholstery business. According to Boseman, DNA testing indicated that some of his ancestors were Cryo people from Sierra Leone, Yoruba people from Nigeria, and Limba people from Sierra Leone.
