Who was Chadwick Boseman?
Chadwick Aaron Boseman Caroline and Leroy Boseman, both African-Americans, were born and raised in South Carolina. His mother was a nurse and his father worked in a textile factory, as well as running an upholstery business. According to Boseman, DNA testing indicated that some of his ancestors were Cryo people from Sierra Leone, Yoruba people from Nigeria, and Limba people from Sierra Leone.
In 1995, Basman T. L. Hannah graduated from high school. During his junior year, he wrote his first play, Crossroads, and performed it in school after shooting a classmate. Bosman attended college at Howard University in Washington DC, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in directing. One of his teachers was Felicia Rashad, who became her teacher. He helped raise money from his friend and lead actor Denzel Washington, so Boseman and some classmates attended the Oxford American Mid-Summer Program at the British American Drama Academy in London, to which he agreed.
Bosman wanted to write and direct and initially learned how to relate to actors and acting. After returning to the US, he graduated from the Digital Film Academy in New York City.
